SK E&C signs an agreement with Indonesia’s WIKA

SK Engineering & Construction (E&C) said Thursday that it has signed an agreement with PT Wijaya Karya (WIKA), Indonesia’s state-run construction company, to co-develop eco-friendly asphalt technology.

SK E&C became the first Korean construction firm to expand in the Indonesian market.

SK E&C is providing technological evaluation and support for WIKA’s asphalt manufacturing plant in Indonesia. It said it will help the plant achieve better performance with its technology. This will aid WIKA in pursuing future large-size asphalt plant investments and commercialization opportunities.

SK E&C plans to acquire a license for the technology co-developed with WIKA after commercialization.

The company added that it will also carry out the design, procurement and construction of an asphalt plant on Buton Island, which will produce 70,000 tons of asphalt a year.
