The Rose is stuck in contract battle

Boy band The Rose are embroiled in a dispute with its agency J&Star Company, over a contract termination.

The Rose is a four-member boy band of guitarists Kim Woo-sung and Lee Jae-hyeong, pianist Park Do-joon and drummer Lee Ha-joon that debuted in 2017. Through concerts in European and Latin American countries the group has garnered fans both within Korea and internationally and attracted more through their performances on “Super Band” program on JTBC last year.

The group has reportedly, however, told the agency their wish to end their exclusive contract, complaining that the agency has pushed them to work through extremely tight schedules and have not explained the details of their supposed expenses that it asked them to pay.

In response, J&Star Company issued a statement Friday stating that the band’s claims are false and that the company has “explained the details to the financial agreement of the contract early on” and that the band is refusing to communicate with the company after announcing “in a one-way manner their wish to end the contract.”

“We will take all legal action needed to solve the issue,” the company said. “We have tried our best to ensure the band gains fame but we find it unfortunate to be treated this way in return.”
