Lim Hyung-joo releases ‘A Song For You’ to raise funds for Red Cross

Tenor Lim Hyung-joo, a United Nations Peace Medal awardee, released a digital single on Tuesday dedicated to everyone struggling from the coronavirus outbreak.

According to his agency DGNcom, Lim released the single, “A Song For You” on Tuesday and launched a campaign with the Korean Red Cross to have all the proceeds from the album from Tuesday to the end of June given to causes to prevent the further spread of Covid-19 in Korea.

“As the Covid-19 outbreak does not show signs of subsiding, people are struggling and some are even suffering from depression,” Lim said.

“Most of my scheduled events have unfortunately been canceled. But we must not lose hope at times like this. I remember the time we all sang together in memory of the victims of the Sewol ferry sinking and thought that this is one thing that I can do to bring hope and encouragement to people.”

Lim has been a goodwill ambassador of the Korean Red Cross for the past 15 years.

In 2015, Lim dedicated the proceeds from a song he released in honor of Sewol ferry victims, amounting to around 57 million won ($46,800).
