Gamblers Lose Again In "Vegas" Lawsuit

The Seoul district court, on October 14, ruled that five gamblers, who borrowed money from the Ramada of Nevada Hotel casino in Las Vegas, U.S., should pay back 60,000 dollars (80 million won) to the casino. The court said, 'The casino argued that the money was not a gambling debt but rather a loan. We accepted the accuser's argument because the accused did not attend the trial.'
The hotel, in its lawsuit, argued that 31 Koreans borrowed 2.86 million dollars (3.9 billion won) from 1996 to 1997 and did not pay it back. 26 of the defendents stated they borrowed more than 10,000 dollars and spent it all on gambling.
