IT exports jump in July
Exports of Korean information technology products rose 30.8 percent in July from the corresponding period last year, despite negative external factors such as the high international oil price, the government reported. The Ministry of Information and Technology said yesterday that monthly IT exports have been more than $6 billion for the past five months. The trade surplus in July amounted to $2.78 billion. IT exports between January and July surged to $42.6 billion ― a 44.4 percent increase from the previous year. The government said it expected to see further growth in IT exports for the second half, especially since markets in the United States and Japan are recovering.
