Police to seek arrest of rock musicians

Police in Seoul’s Yeongdeungpo district announced yesterday that they will seek to jail two rock musicians who exposed themselves on live television last Saturday.
They are seeking detention warrants for the two musicians on charges of interfering with a business and violating laws pertaining to public performances. The musicians, members of a band called The Couch, had already been booked without detention on those charges, along with the leader of the band Rux, which was onstage with them when the incident happened.
The musicians pulled their pants down and exposed their genitals during a live music show on MBC-TV. The network was flooded with complaints from viewers.
A court will decide today whether the two musicians should be arrested.
“The two men admitted that the exposure was planned in advance,” said a police official. “We decided to deal strictly with their conduct, which caused harm to teenagers and hurt Korea’s performance culture.”
Police said the musicians discussed exposing themselves three days before the show. The leader of Rux reportedly told police that the incident was planned. The two exchanged eye signals before pulling down their pants, police said.
Police also said that the two men did similar things last year while performing at clubs in the Hongik University area.
