Boar drowns in Han River

A wild boar spotted near the Walkerhill Hotel in Seoul yesterday drowned in the Han River while trying to elude would-be captors. Police said that after they received a report about the boar at 12:13 p.m. they attempted to catch it, but it jumped into the Han River between the Olympic and Cheonho bridges. The boar tried to swim south, but drowned at 1: 23 p.m.
This is the second time Seoul police and fire departments have had to chase down a wild boar in recent weeks. The first boar was seen on Sept. 29 and was killed after injuring passers-by. “We believe that this wild boar, like the one killed last time, came from Mount Acha or the hills in Guri, Gyeonggi province,” an emergency worker said. “Fortunately, no one got hurt this time.”
