Ssangyong to build Pakistani port berth

Ssangyong Engineering and Construction said yesterday that it received a $90 million order from the government-run Pakistani firm Karachi Port Trust to rebuild a berth at Karachi Port, the country’s largest.
The port can process an annual 1.17 million twenty-foot equivalent units, or TEU. The reconstruction of berth 10-14 is expected to take up to 2 years.
The builder said that Pakistan is a huge construction partner as the country plans to set aside $8.8 billion for road construction between 2006 and 2014.
