Lee retains leading FTA negotiator

President Lee Myung-bak yesterday retained Minister for Trade Kim Jong-hoon, an appointee of former President Roh Moo-hyun, the presidential office announced yesterday. Kim, a veteran diplomat who served as the top Korean negotiator in free trade talks with the United States, was promoted to trade minister in August last year by Roh. “Minister Kim offered to resign, but President Lee returned his resignation,” Blue House deputy spokesperson Bae Yong-soo said.
Bae also said the president has similarly decided to retain Han Sang-ryule as commissioner of the National Tax Service. Yonhap
