Seoul seeks shoppers for Grand Sale

International shoppers, have you shopped in Hong Kong and Tokyo? If so, why not try Seoul, too, the Seoul Metropolitan Government suggested yesterday.

The city government said yesterday it is inviting international shoppers to the 2009 Seoul Grand Sale, which will last from Sept. 26 to Nov. 25 around Seoul. Over 800 companies covering beauty, shopping, eatery, culture, tourism, health care and accommodation are participating. Shoppers will be able to buy products up to 50 percent off original prices.

The city government is also featuring different themes each week. The city will broadcast Cinema Week (Oct. 11 to 17) with English, Chinese, and Japanese subtitles at Lotte Cinema, CGV Myeongdong, Yongsan and Apgujeong. Shoppers can experience traditional Korean at Unhyeon and Gyeongbok palaces during Palace Week (Oct. 18 to 24).

Shoppers are also invited to a Beauty Health Week (Oct. 25 to 31) for discounted herbal beauty spas. In Night Shopping Week (Nov. 6 to 14), Dongwha Duty Free and Walker Hill Duty Free will expand business hours to 10:30 p.m. In Hotel Week (Nov. 15 to 25), luxury hotels will offer special discount packages.
