ROTC to allow women

The ROTC started in Korea in 1963, but female college students have been banned from entering. Military authorities originally planned to consider lifting the ban in 2014.

But Defense Minister Kim Tae-young told President Lee Myung-bak earlier this month that it was possible for the ministry to lift the ban earlier, the officials said. Yonhap
