Chinese accused of spying at Samsung
Korean prosecutors said yesterday they arrested a female Chinese researcher for Samsung Electronics Co. on charges of stealing the firm’s business secrets, apparently for one of its Chinese rivals.The 40-year-old, who worked as a senior researcher in the Korean electronics giant’s home appliance department since 2007, downloaded information about the company’s technology development plan for 2011 onto her laptop last month and attempted to hand it over to the Chinese company, according to officials at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors Office.
She kept the data at home and was caught last week by the prosecution after it was tipped off about the incident.
