Ha Jung-woo’s 540-kilometer odyssey nears end

Ha Jung-woo’s walking trip from Seoul to Haenam, South Jeolla, is almost over. The actor began his journey on Nov. 15 in Seoul and is expected to arrive in Haenam, located in Korea’s southernmost region, sometime between Dec. 4 and 5, according to Ha’s agency Fantagio Entertainment. The total distance is 540 kilometers (336 miles).

Ha announced the trip when he won the best actor award for his work in “Yellow Sea” (2010) at the 2011 Paeksang Arts Awards in May. In his acceptance speech, Ha said that since he won the same award last year for “Take Off” (2010), he didn’t expect to win again. Ha told the audience that he would take a cross-country trip to thank fans for their support.

Ha recently wrapped the romantic comedy “Love Fiction” with actress Kong Hyo-jin, who is accompanying Ha on the trip, along with other members of the cast and crew. Their journey will be chronicled in a documentary, according to Fantagio.
