Girls’ Generation to release ‘The Boys’ in the U.S. and Europe

Girls’ Generation will release the song “The Boys” online for a worldwide audience on Dec. 20.

“Through Interscope Records, which is affiliated with Universal Music Group, a maxi-single version of ‘The Boys’ will be released on Dec. 20,” the group’s agency, SM Entertainment, said on Dec. 14.

The hit title track from the album by the same name will be available for purchase on iTunes as a never-before-heard version featuring rap from international hip-hop stars Snoop Dogg and Lil’ Playy.

Girls’ Generation will release the entire album, which is their third to date, internationally through Universal Music Group on Jan. 17 in the U.S. and Europe.

Since the domestic release of “The Boys” on Oct. 19, the girls have been in first place on the KBS music-chart show “Music Bank” for six consecutive weeks. The album has sold 300,000 copies as of the end of November.

The group also won the Artist of the Year and Best Female Group awards at the Mnet Asian Music Awards, which took place in Singapore on Nov. 29.

The girl group also performed their first solo concert in Singapore Dec. 9-10.
