‘Grandpas’ to take a break

Popular entertainment show “Grandpas Over Flowers,” which airs on cable channel tvN, will take a break after it airs the second round of episodes in September.

Despite relatively high ratings of 5 percent on average, well above the 1 percent more typical on cable, the producers decided to take some time off before making the third season due to the busy schedules of the four veteran actors on the show.

In the first round of “Grandpas Over Flowers,” broadcast in July, the four stars traveled to Paris. The second series, which will air in September, shows the men travelling to Taiwan.

But because the four are filming other programs now, the third round will not be filmed until winter.

“Everyone was excited about taking the third trip,” said producer Na Young-seok of the show. “After matching the schedules of the actors, we will go overseas again in winter, or the latest next spring.”

No word on where the grandfathers will travel to in the next series.
