YG readies launch of boy band Winner

Leading K-pop powerhouse YG Entertainment revealed a two-minute video clip to tease its new boy band, Winner. Because it took eight years for YG to debut a new boy group after Big Bang in 2006, local music fans are showering a lot of attention on the five boys.

Comprised of Kang Seung-yoon, Song Min-ho, Nam Tae-hyun, Kim Jin-woo and Lee Seung-hoon, the band was featured on Mnet’s reality competition program “Win,” where they competed against six other male trainees to debut as professional singers.

Member Seung-yoon, 20, is a well-known figure to Korean fans, as he was one of the finalists in Mnet’s “Superstar K” audition in 2010, along with John Park, Huh Gak and Jang Jane.

Winner recently finished their concert tour with YG artists in Osaka, Japan.
