Shin Eun-kyung to star in new thriller

Actress Shin Eun-kyung, from the 2001 film “My Wife is a Gangster,” will return to the big screen after a four-year break in director Park Chang-jin’s new suspense-thriller “Plan” (working title), according to local media yesterday.

The movie depicts in detail the lives of Korea’s loan sharks, in which murder and betrayal are commonplace. Shin is set to play the female lead, Se-hee, a sort of femme fatale who becomes a merciless loan shark after being betrayed by her own family.

Shin’s character is both provocative and charismatic, which have led many to wonder how the experienced actress will take on the role.

Other cast members in the film include Oh In-hye, Lee Ki-young and Kang Ji-sub.

The film will open in local theaters on Sept. 18.
