Government to crack down on Bluetooth selfie sticks

The government decided to crack down on Bluetooth-enabled selfie sticks that operate using uncertified radio-wave signals starting Friday, said the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning.

Bluetooth selfie sticks use a remote control that makes them pricier than normal selfie sticks.

But according to researchers at the National Radio Research Agency, the Bluetooth-enabled selfie sticks that use unauthorized signals may cause radio-wave disruptions to nearby electronic devices, hindering their operations, and could also break the selfie stick. Sticks that use authorized radio waves have a state certification sticker called a KC mark. Any unauthorized Bluetooth selfie sticks should be reported to the Central Radio Management Office.
