Remake of Chinese drama to star Lee Joon-gi

테스트

Actor Lee Joon-gi has nabbed a role in the upcoming drama series tentatively titled “Moon Lovers.” In the series, Lee will play the role of a prince of China’s Qing Dynasty who falls in love with a woman from Seoul.

An insider told Ilgan Sports, an affiliate of the Korea JoongAng Daily, on Wednesday that Lee made up his mind to take on the project.

Namoo Actors, the 34-year-old actor’s agency, said, “We are in the stage of settling on small details.”

The drama series was first produced in China in 2011 as a 35-episode drama series that was hugely popular.

Kim Kyu-tae, who took the helm of the popular 2014 drama series “It’s Okay, That’s Love,” will produce the drama series.

Meanwhile, Lee is currently taking a break after he took part in filming the latest installment of the Hollywood sci-fi film series “Resident Evil” in South Africa.

The actor recently uploaded a photo of himself with actress Milla Jovovich onto his Instagram account. In the photo, Lee and Jovovich have blood-stained faces created by special-effects makeup.

But Lee’s agency said it can’t comment on further details about his role in the upcoming “Resident Evil” film because of a contract it signed with the Hollywood production company.

Having debuted in 2004, Lee has been building a solid career across the small and big screens. In Korea, the period drama series “Scholar Who Walks the Night” was Lee’s most recent project.
