Lee Kwang-soo honored in China

Korean actor Lee Kwang-soo won the Popular Asian Artist award Thursday night at Weibo Night, organized by the Chinese online media company Sina.
Weibo Night, an annual event held in Beijing, honors the best of the entertainment industry of the previous year and invites the most popular entertainers. It is known as the largest entertainment festival in China.
Lee enjoys tremendous popularity in China and Southeast Asia thanks to his regular appearance on the popular reality TV show “Running Man.”
He is often dubbed “Asian prince.”
The actor has about 7 million followers on Weibo, which is a Chinese social networking service.
Lee is scheduled to appear in an upcoming drama series tentatively titled “Dear My Friends” in the first half of this year.
K-pop boy group Beast also received the award for Popular Asian Group. During the event, the six-member boy group performed some of their hit songs such as “Good Luck” and “Yey.”
Beast broke into the Korean music scene in 2009 but it has been focusing more on performing in China recently.
The boy group has been organizing concerts in China since late last year and is slated to perform in Hangzhou in March.
Meanwhile, Chinese and Hong Kong celebrities such as Fan Bingbing, Angelababy and Huang Xiaoming were also present at Weibo Night.
