Lee Gi-kwang gets part in upcoming drama

Singer Lee Gi-kwang, a member of the K-pop boy group Beast, has nabbed a role in the upcoming drama series “Monster.”

In the drama series, set in the late 1990s, Lee plays the younger version of the main character, Gang Gi-tan.

Although Lee will appear only in the first four episodes, Cube Entertainment, which represents Lee, said viewers will get a chance to see intense acting by Lee because Gang is a complicated character. He is born to an affluent family but later loses everything he has after being betrayed. He is also visually impaired.

Lee debuted in the music scene in 2009 as a member of Beast. While performing as part of the boy band, the 26-year-old singer has been pursuing acting, too.

His most recent project was “Mrs. Cop” (2015), in which he played the role of a junior detective.

Lee received the newbie actor of the year award at the 2011 MBC Drama Awards.

“Monster” will hit the air in April after “Glamorous Temptation.
