Suzy lined up to host Paeksang Arts Awards

Singer-actress Suzy will host the upcoming Paeksang Arts Awards along with comedian Shin Dong-yup.

The organizer of the annual awards, which honors actors and comedians, said Monday, “There is no doubt that Suzy is the best actress who has a strong presence both on TV and the big screen. Everyone agreed [on having her as a host].”

Suzy won the best new actress award from Paeksang in 2012 for the hit film “Architecture 101.” Four years after winning, the 22-year-old actress is returning to Paeksang with the honor of hosting one of the country’s longest-running entertainment festivals.

The Paeksang Awards, in its 52nd year, will be held at Kyung Hee University in Seoul on June 3.

The awards will air on JTBC and JTBC2 starting at 8:30 p.m., and will be broadcast live in China via iQiyi.com, too.

A slew of A-list actors and entertainers such as actor Choi Min-sik of “The Tiger” (2015), Cho Jin-woong of “The Handmaiden” (2015), Yim Si-wan of “A Melody to Remember” (2015) and comedian Lee Gook-ju will be present at the awards.

Meanwhile, Suzy is currently shooting the drama series “Uncontrollably Fond” with actor Kim Woo-bin of “The Heirs” (2013). In the drama, Suzy plays a documentary producer. The drama series will begin airing July 6 on KBS2.
