Kakao’s messaging app launches hair salon booking

The nation’s no. 1 instant messaging app Kakao launched a new service Tuesday that allows users to make reservation at hair salons.
This new function is named “Kakao Hair Shop,” and offers a convenient, integrated package that ranges from searching hair salons to making reservations and prior payments via smartphone.

With this function, users can also apply certain filters to search for hair salons that best suit their needs. The filter distinguishes not only location and styles, but also details like parking availability, day care and late-night business hours. Users can also look up the shops’ prices and the hairdressers’ area of specialization, experience and styling methods.

Reviews on the platform can be written only by those who make reservations and visit the hairdressers, to prevent hair salons from creating fake reviews to attract customers.

This function is supported in Kakao version 5.7 or higher, and encompasses 1,500 hair salons nationwide and 10,000 stylists. Kakao plans to expand the number of hair shops to 2,000 by July and 4,000 this year.
