Kang Ha-neul heads to Singapore

Actor Kang Ha-neul will head to Singapore to promote the upcoming SBS period drama series “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo,” according to the 26-year-old’s talent agency Sem Company on Tuesday.

“The actor is planning to hold a press event and preview [in Singapore],” the agency said, adding that Kang will also meet with local fans.

One TV Asia, the cable channel hosting Kang’s promotional event, showed particular interest in the actor. A source from the channel, which is owned by Sony Pictures Television, said it has been keeping an eye on Kang for his image and acting ability, and had decided to invite the actor to Singapore even before the drama aired because of his talent.

Meanwhile, the new SBS drama, which is scheduled to hit the air on Aug. 29, is a remake of the 2011 Chinese mega-hit drama “Scarlet Heart.” It will be set in the Goryeo Dynasty (918-1392), and Kang will play the eighth prince, Wang Wook, the role originally played by Hong Kong actor Kevin Cheng in the Chinese version. Other celebrities joining Kang will include singer-actress IU and actor Lee Joon-gi.
