Colorful snacks add a floral touch to your springtime picnic basket
Just as many coffee franchises like Starbucks Coffee and Ediya Coffee have introduced cherry blossom-themed drinks, food companies are making colorful tweaks to their products so that people enjoying picnics in parks and riversides across Korea will pack their products to add to the springtime atmosphere.
Choco Pie, one of the most popular Korean snacks around the world, has introduced a chocolate pie with fruit-flavored cake to ring in the new season. After its last year’s strawberry version was a hit, snack company Orion decided to add a taste of yogurt to the strawberry pie. Inside the marshmallow is strawberry jam, while the sponge cake now has a strawberry yogurt-like taste.
Sister product Fresh Pie, usually a soft cake with strawberry cream in the middle, now has peach and yogurt flavors just in time for spring.
Binggrae’s famous banana milk will introduce a special edition this spring with a flavor that has never been seen from the company before - Mulberry, known as odi in Korean. In line with global color company Pantone’s color of the year, Ultra Violet, the food company decided to introduce a purple-hued product to add a pop of plum to your picnic basket.
Those enjoying fried chicken outdoors can add a floral touch to their meals with beer cans covered in pink cherry blossoms. Japanese beer maker Asahi has had a hit with their decorated cans for the past few years and has decided to roll out a new design this year. BY
