SPC Group, the operator of Paris Baguette, has donated more than 100 billion won ($93 million) to charity since 2000.

The food giant started to keep track of its charitable activities in 2000, and cumulative donations reached 100 billion won earlier this week after SPC employees delivered 200 million won to the Purme Foundation, which helps people with disabilities.

The group’s charitable activities are led by its chairman, Hur Young-in, who emphasizes management based on sharing and prosperous coexistence. The group has sent more than 100 million baked goods worth about 68 billion won to different welfare centers across the country.

In particular, Hur has focused on hiring people of all abilities, building a job training center for people with disabilities. In September 2012, SPC started a chain of bakeries operated by trainees from the center. The company supports the chain with operational knowledge, financial investment and employee training.

A scholarship program supports part-time student workers at SPC affiliates. Every year, 200 college students receive financial aid to cover half of their tuition.

At SPC, workers are encouraged to donate to funds that support the health care and medical expenses of children with disabilities.
