Kang Ho-dong’s father passes away suddenly

Entertainer Kang Ho-dong immediately returned to Korea while shooting season five of the tvN program “New Journey to the West” after hearing the news of his father’s death on Friday.

Kang’s agency SM C&C confirmed to Ilgan Sports, an affiliate of the Korea JoongAng Daily, that Kang’s father passed away at 6:30 a.m. on Friday. They added, “The funeral will be a quiet one with family and friends. We ask for your consideration so that the family can express their condolences to the deceased.”

The entertainer debuted as a comedian in 1993, and he is currently hosting a number of television shows, including JTBC’s “Dining Together” and “Knowing Bros,” tvN’s “Island Trio” and more.
