The unified Korean canoeing team, in blue, races in the women’s 500-meter dragon boat race at the Jakabaring Rowing & Canoeing Regatta Course in Palembang, Indonesia at the 2018 Asian Games on Sunday. The unified team finished their race in 2 minutes and 24.788 seconds to win its first-ever gold in the event. Prior to their gold medal, the unified women’s team also won bronze in the 200-meter dragon boat race on Saturday. As the unified team won the medal, it won’t count toward the medal count of either South or North Korea. It will be awarded to “Korea.” [YONHAP]
