Father of singer Eun Ji-won passes away

Singer Eun Ji-won’s father passed away on Wednesday, YG Entertainment announced on Thursday.

“We send our deepest condolences to Eun Ji-won, member of Sechskies, as his father passed away on Wednesday,” announced YG Entertainment in a statement released on Thursday. “The family is planning to organize a quiet and private funeral, and Eun Ji-won will be there throughout the whole funeral process until his father is cremated on Friday.”

Eun Ji-won’s father was the cousin of former President Park Geun-hye. His father was at her inauguration in 2013.

Eun Ji-won debuted in 1997 as a member of the first generation K-pop group Sechskies. He has been seen on television in many different variety shows like KBS 2TV’s hit variety show “1 Night Two Days” and tvN’s variety show “New Journey to the West.” His most recent activity was an appearance on MBC’s new variety show “Unexpected Q.”

Eun Ji-won, with the rest of the Sechskies, are preparing a concert to will be held in the Olympic Gymnastics Arena, southern Seoul, on Oct. 13 and 14.
