Korea Aerospace Industries gets anti-bribery certificate

Korea Aerospace Industries acquired an ISO 37001 certification, proving that its anti-bribery systems meet international standards. It is the first national defense institution to be awarded the certification.

Kim Jo-won, chief executive officer and president of the company, and Lee Sang-jin, chairman of the Korean Standards Association, as well as other dignitaries attended the ISO 37001 certificate-awarding ceremony on Tuesday at KAI’s Seoul office.

An ISO 37001 refers to a standard for anti-bribery management systems, enacted by the International Organization for Standardization in 2016. Any company that acquires the certificate is considered to be equipped with an effective system for preventing corruption and bribery.

Kim restructured the company after he took over as CEO in 2017, creating the business ethics and support division as an independent section to ensure its transparency.

Under Kim's leadership, KAI implemented an ethical management system and amended internal regulations and policies to strengthen checks on the company's management, Board of Directors and audit committee.

In order to acquire the certificate, KAI began building a series of international standard systems in April, including establishing strategy, compliance with laws, leadership, evaluation schemes and improvement activities with the help of external consulting experts.
