테스트

1) A solemn ceremony for the return of the remains of 64 South Korean soldiers who died during the 1950-53 Korean War was held on Oct. 1, the 70th anniversary of South Korea’s Armed Forces Day, at Seoul Air Base in Seongnam, Gyeonggi.

2) In the ceremony, South Korean President Moon Jae-in, the defense minister and Korean War veterans were in attendance. The remains have not been clearly identified yet, so families were unable to participate in the event.

3) The remains of the 64 South Korean soldiers were found between 1996 to 2005 in a joint excavation operation by North Korea and the United States.

4) The remains were found in sites of key battles in the North’s South Hamgyong and South Pyongan Provinces. They were then moved to Hawaii.

5) This is the fourth time that the remains of South Korean soldiers have been returned to South Korea from the United States. Twelve bodies were returned to Korea in 2012, 15 in 2016 and one in 2018.

6) After the ceremony, the remains were moved to the Defense Ministry’s Agency for Killed in Action Recovery and Identification in the national cemetery under the escort of military guards.

7) The Defense Ministry’s Agency for Killed in Action Recovery will place the remains in the national cemetery after undergoing DNA tests.
