It was Banksy’s high-tech performance art sending a message to ⓐscrew the art market. But Sotheby’s is only happy to get “Banksy-ed.”
About a week ago, a painting by anonymous street artist Banksy was sold at Sotheby’s for 1.04 million pounds ($1.38) before the canvas was ⓑshredded automatically. ⓒNext day, Banksy posted a video on Instagram and revealed that he had hidden a shredder inside the frame a few years ago.

screw the art market → screw with the art market screw는 ‘나사로 조이다’, screw with은 ‘조롱하다’

Next day → The next day the next day가 바람직한 표현

ⓐThat’s how he staged the performance of shredding, but it ⓑended up with the market smiling. ⓒNew Yorker’s art editor Andrea Scott criticized ⓓthat the self-destruction of Banksy’s painting “fails to rise above the level of empty gesture,” and “If the stunt was intended to mock the spectacle of art being reduced to a price tag, the joke might be on Banksy.”

That’s how he staged the performance of shredding, but → That’s surely why he shredded the painting, though 방식이 아니라 이유, how를 why로; 퍼포먼스로 보기 어려우므로 performance 삭제

ended up with → left end up with에는 ‘결국’이라는 뉘앙스가 있으니 여기서는 과한 표현

New Yorker’s → The New Yorker’s 공식명칭에 the가 있음

that the self-destruction of Banksy’s painting → the self-destruction of Banksy’s painting, saying it
