KOVO says women’s games are seeing better attendance

Nov 08,2018
The Korea Volleyball Federation (KOVO) has seen a significant increase in the number of crowds this season in women’s volleyball matches after a time change to its games.

Starting the 2018-19 season, the KOVO switched the weekday game time at 7 p.m., the same time as men’s matches, while keeping the weekend game time the same at 4 p.m.

Under the new game time, the women’s league’s crowd easily exceeded that of the men’s league, managing to bring in 37,508 fans in the first 15 matches. Compared to the previous season, the women’s league has seen a 20 percent increase in its crowd while the men’s league saw a 12 percent decrease.

According to KOVO, this is the first time the women’s league exceeded the men’s league in crowds.

“Considering the time our match finishes, it is a little overwhelming, but I’m glad more fans can visit and watch us play,” said Han Soo-ji of Daejeon KGC.
