Star rookie Lee Jung-hoo receives shoulder surgery

The 2017 KBO Rookie of the Year, Lee Jung-hoo of the Nexen Heroes, underwent a shoulder surgery on Wednesday and is expected to miss about six months.

Lee injured his left shoulder while making a diving catch during the first-round postseason game against the Hanwha Eagles on Oct. 20. Lee was quickly ruled out for the rest of the postseason. The Heroes advanced to the second round but lost to the SK Wyverns in five games.

The Heroes said Lee had surgery to repair his damaged left shoulder labrum. After a dominant rookie season, Lee had a strong second season with the Heroes where he finished with a bating average of .355, six home runs and 57 RBIs in 109 games.
