Ridi buys Outstanding Company

Korea’s leading e-book service provider Ridi Corporation announced Monday that it acquired IT news outlet Outstanding Company.

Outstanding is a news site founded in 2015 with a focus on the information technology (IT) sector. Notably, its articles take on versatile formats like blog posts and cartoons, which are intended to help readers to better understand complicated issues. Outstanding does not make money from advertisements, but instead offers a paid premium service.

“Ridi has positively assessed Outstanding’s ability to make quality content highly accessible,” said Bae Ki-sik, CEO of Ridi Corporation. “Outstanding has matured to become a must-read IT news site in less than three years of its birth. With Ridi and Outstanding’s recent union, we will focus on allowing as many users as possible to access attractive contents.”

“Ridi Corporation, which leads Korea’s e-book industry, has shown tremendous success in connecting users with content,” said Choi Yong-sik, CEO of Outstanding Company. “By working with a company that has such a high understanding of users and content, we expect that Outstanding will be able to focus more intensively on creating high-quality articles.”

Outstanding will continue to maintain independence over the reporting and editing of its articles following the acquisition, according to Ridi Corporation.

The e-book provider will focus on improving the user experience of Outstanding’s services.
