Seoul appoints new ambassadors

For the new year, Seoul has gotten some new faces. The Seoul Metropolitan Government appointed 11 new honorary ambassadors for the upcoming year, including singer Yura from Girl’s Day and the girl group (G)I-DLE.

The Seoul government held a ceremony on Thursday afternoon to appoint its new representatives, a pool comprised of prominent figures in diverse cultural fields such as fashion designer Song Zio and makeup artist Jung Saem-mool.

“The honorary ambassadors have been chosen from a diverse pool of expertise, including entertainment, architecture, culture and art,” said Seoul Metropolitan Government.

The list of appointees are: fashion designer Song, makeup artist Jung, architect Yoo Hyun-joon, percussionist Chung Kun-young (otherwise known as Franky Chung), editor of the magazine Arena Park Ji-ho, actor Park Jin-hee, interior designer Teo Yang, artist Kim Hyun-jung, Girl’s Day Yura, illustrator Myeong Min-ho and the group (G)I-DLE.

The ceremony was attended by Mayor Park Won-soon, along with the former honorary ambassadors including entertainer Park Su-hong, model Jang Yoon-ju, announcer Lee Un-kyoung and actor Choi Bul-am.
