Doosan Robotics inks cobot deal with Chinese company

Doosan Robotics announced Wednesday it signed a deal with Chinese industrial automation company Linkhou to sell its cooperative robot (cobot) products in China.

The agreement marks the Korean robotics company’s entrance into the Chinese market, which made up 36.1 percent of the global cobot market as of 2017, according to the International Federation of Robotics. Cobots are robots that interact with humans in a workspace as opposed to autonomous robots.

The Korean robotics company plans to target China’s southeast region, home to many smart factories manufacturing computer and consumer electronics in collaboration with Linkhou.

“We will actively target the Chinese market with our diverse range of cobots and utilize Linkhou’s sales and service network and systems integration knowledge,” said Lee Byeong-seo, CEO of Doosan Robotics.
