Kang Sung-hoon ends YG contract

Kang Sung-hoon from veteran boy band Sechskies has left YG Entertainment, according to an announcement the singer made on his fan club website on Tuesday.

In a post titled “Official Statement,” Kang detailed how he and the agency came to an agreement to end his contract.

“I was cautious about coming up with a statement with so many misunderstandings [surrounding myself] lately,” wrote Kang.

“I decided that I was damaging the whole group by affecting them with my issues, which has ended up postponing the return of Sechskies.”

“After conversations with YG Entertainment, we decided to terminate my contract as of Dec. 31, and I will let go of all future plans as a [member of] Sechskies,” wrote Kang.

Kang also apologized to his fans who had waited for him all these years and even took his side when he and his fan club was reported to police in November over an alleged embezzlement of fan donations.

On Nov. 12, Kang and the manager of an independent fan club website called Hoony World, were reported to police by 70 fans for pocketing some 100 million won ($89,800) collected by the fans.

“I’m sorry that I couldn’t live up to the expectations of the people who had waited for me,” wrote Kang. “I sincerely apologize to the members of Sechskies who had to suffer damage due to my problems.”
