Hanwha Energy to develop solar power plant in Hawaii

Jan 22,2019
Hanwha Energy said Monday it won an order from Hawaiian Electric to take part in the development and operation of a solar power plant complex.

The Hanwha Group energy affiliate said it will be one of seven companies to develop and operate a 52-megawatt solar power plant with an electric storage system (ESS) with a capacity of 208 megawatt hours for Hawaii’s largest electric utility.

Hanwha will operate the plant for 20 years.

The solar plant will be built on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, with construction to be completed in 2021. Development and construction for the project is expected to cost $140 million.

Other companies that will take part in the project include U.S. ESS firm AES.
