Samsung Heavy Industries wins LNG carrier contract
Samsung Heavy Industries said Tuesday that it has won a deal worth a combined 420 billion won ($376 million) to build two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.The contract was made with a European shipper, the company said in a regulatory filing.
The latest deal will allow the shipyard to make use of its cutting-edge technology, which includes Saver Air and Intelliman Ship that can greatly increase the fuel efficiency of vessels.
Shippers can reduce fuel usage by more than 5 percent.
