Queen cover singer to visit Korea

Canadian rock singer Marc Martel, who recorded the vocals for the Queen biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody,” is making his first visit to Korea for a performance.

On Tuesday, Hyundai Department Store announced it will hold a special concert series titled “The Ultimate Queen Celebration” as part of their “Super Stage” series at Olympic Hall in Olympic Park, southern Seoul, from May 16 to 17.

“‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ was a big hit in the country, that connected across multiple generations,” the company said.

In recent years, the company has invited artists from around the world to perform at their Super Stage concerts in Korea, including Ne-Yo, Michael Bolton, Il Divo and Yanni. This year, the company is holding its 27th Super Stage concert.

This year’s guest - Martel - is known for his Queen covers. In 2011, he participated in Queen-drummer Roger Taylor’s official Queen tribute project, titled “The Queen Extravaganza,” and sang the song “Somebody to Love.” The music video surpassed one million views on YouTube within a few days.
