BMW Korea halts the release of a number of models

BMW Korea announced Monday it has halted the partial release of its 5 Series and 7 Series models after discovering some parts do not meet quality standards.

The models covered by the halt are: 520i, 530d, 630d xDrive GT, 730d xDrive, 730Ld xDrive, 740 xDrive and 740Ld xDrive. They have recently been imported.

“While inspecting these cars before their release, we confirmed some parts do not meet the quality standard,” said a representative from BMW Korea. “We are voluntarily proceeding with a ‘technical campaign’ to correct the defects.”

The source refused to reveal any specific details regarding the problems, but added that it is not “severe enough of a defect to issue a recall.”

Customers who purchased these models must wait about three months until the cars are released.
