SK Telecom and Deutsche Telekom sign 5G agreement

SK Telecom signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Deutsche Telekom last week at MWC 2019 to codevelop 5G network, media and security technology, the company said in a statement Sunday.

Under the MOU, the two telecom companies will share their techniques on network operations and knowledge on the commercialization of the 5G network. They will also codevelop next-generation technologies and will look over tapping into new markets through the possible establishment of a research and development joint venture company.

“[SK Telecom] is planning to target European network, media and security markets through close collaboration with Deutsche Telekom,” said CEO Park Jung-ho. “With the entrance of 5G generation, we will strengthen our cooperation both within and outside of the country based on SK Telecom’s core technical skills.”
