Jazz singer Nah on European tour

Popular jazz vocalist Nah Youn-sun is going on a European tour.

The tour will kick off in Paris on Tuesday to celebrate the release of her new 10th album, titled “Immersion,” which was released last Friday in Europe.

She will showcase her album tracks at Paris’ Le Trianon on Tuesday, and will then head to various other countries in Europe, including Spain, Switzerland, Germany and Poland. Nah will hold 14 concerts in total in Paris alone.

“Immersion” has 13 tracks in total, ranging from pop and rock numbers to electronic pieces. Some of them are reinterpretations of popular songs by French composer Michel Legrand and Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen. Six of the tracks were composed by Nah herself.

Although Nah debuted in Korea in 1994 with the musical “Subway Line 1,” she went to Paris the following year to study jazz and became a jazz singer, debuting with “Reflet” in 2001. She eventually rose to fame in Europe, and in 2009, she received the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres - the Order of France - which was awarded by the Minister of Culture in recognition of her musical talents.
