Hyundai Motor using lighter, stronger platform in Sonata
Hyundai Motor said Wednesday it is utilizing its third-generation platform in creating the all-new Sonata sedan, due to launch in Korea this month.The platform is 10 percent stronger and 55 kilograms (121 pounds) lighter than the previous platform as it uses ultra-high strength and hot-stamped steel for all key structural components, the company said in a statement.
Hyundai Motor plans to gradually release more vehicle models based on the new platform, it said.
