Questions start in sex, drugs and cops scandal

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency questioned Thursday three key players in the snowballing celebrity scandal involving sex, drugs, videos and police protection: K-pop megastar Seungri; his business partner; and singer Jung Joon-young.

성접대, 마약, 경찰 은폐 의혹이 얽힌 연예인 스캔들을 수사중인 서울지방경찰청은 목요일 케이팝 스타 승리, 그의 사업 파트너, 가수 정준영 등 사건 관련 주요 인물 세 명을 소환 조사했다.
Seungri, the youngest former member of Big Bang and a successful entrepreneur, was summoned as a criminal suspect on charges of offering women for sex to potential investors. When he was first questioned about the allegation on Feb. 27, 2019, he denied all charges.

빅뱅의 막내로 사업가로도 성공한 승리는 투자자들에게 성접대를 한 혐의를 받는 피의자로 소환됐다. 2월27일 처음 그 혐의에 대해 수사 받을 때 승리는 모든 혐의를 부인했다.
“I will offer truthful answers and cooperate with the investigation,” the 29-year-old singer said as he entered the police compound on Thursday. Seungri, whose real name is Lee Seung-hyun, said Monday he would retire from the entertainment industry and apologized to the public for the scandal.

승리는 목요일 경찰청사로 들어서면서 “사실대로 답변할 것이며 경찰수사에 협조하겠다”고 말했다. 승리(본명 이승현)는 월요일에 대국민 사과를 하면서 연예계를 은퇴하겠다고 발표했다.
Seungri’s business partner David Yu, also known as Yu In-seok, was also questioned by police on Thursday. Yu and Seungri co-own Yuri Holdings, which operate fancy clubs, bars and restaurants.

승리의 사업 파트너 데이빗 유(한국이름 유인석)도 목요일 경찰에서 조사받았다. 유씨와 승리는 고급 클럽, 술집, 레스토랑을 운영하는 유리홀딩스를 공동으로 설립했다.
The police said they are investigating Yu’s alleged connection to the high-level police officers and his suspected involvement in offering sex services to investors.
경찰은 유씨가 경찰 고위 간부와의 유착 의혹과 투자자들에게 제공한 성접대에 관여한 혐의를 수사하고 있다고 밝혔다.
Earlier in the morning, the police summoned Jung, accused of shooting and distributing sex videos without the consent of the women in them in 2015 and 2016. “I apologize to the public,” Jung said. “I will faithfully submit to the questioning.”
이날 아침에 경찰은 2015년과 2016년에 여성의 동의 없이 성관계 동영상을 촬영하고 유포한 혐의를 받고 있는 가수 정준영씨를 소환했다. 정씨는 “국민들에게 사과한다. 수사에 성실히 임하겠다”고 말했다.
