Kang Jung-ho continues no-hit run for fifth game

Kang Jung-ho of the Pittsburgh Pirates extended his no-hit record to five games.

During the Pirates’ game against the Chicago Cubs on Thursday, Kang started as fifth batter and third baseman, but his bat stayed silent throughout the game.

Kang first got into the batter’s box at the top of the second inning while the two teams were tied at 0-0 and was struck out. Then, in the fourth inning, he hit a fly ball before striking out again at the top of the sixth inning.

At the top of the ninth inning, Kim was substituted for Colin Moran.

Since the Pirates game against the Cincinnati Reds on April 5, Kang hasn’t had any hits. Due to the silent streak, Kang’s batting average went down from .133 to .121, as of Thursday.

This is Kang’s first season back in the MLB since 2016.

The Pirates lost the game against the Cubs 0-2.
