‘Avengers’ presales top 500,000

Marvel’s latest “Avengers: Endgame” is on its way to creating another sensation in Korea, where the superhero series has been popular over the past decade.

According to data from the Korean Film Council, the flick surpassed 500,000 presale tickets on Wednesday morning, less than 20 hours after the opening of its online sales.

The tally is expected to soar at a faster pace on Thursday, when tickets for 3-D and IMAX theaters will be put on sale.

The end of the Avengers saga will hit local screens on April 24.

“Endgame” is a “combination” of the 22 films produced under the Marvel Cinematic Universe brand, which has played out since the release of “Iron Man” starring Robert Downey Jr. in 2008.

Three actors from the film - Downey, Jeremy Renner and Brie Larson - and its directors Anthony and Joe Russo visited Seoul this week as part of a world promotional tour.
