‘Avengers’ breaks first day records

“Avengers: Endgame” truly was the movie that everyone was waiting for, and the statistics prove it: The film attracted over 1.33 million moviegoers on the day of its release.

The numbers blew away the former box office record made by “Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days” (2017), in which an estimated 1.25 million people went to see the film on its release date. “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018) drew a little over 984,000 people on its first day in theaters.

Just four hours and 30 minutes after its debut, the movie had already been seen by more than one million people, a record for the Korean box office.

The film was screened at 2,760 theaters on Wednesday, 207 more screens than the number that was shown for the previous record holder, last year’s “Avengers: Infinity War.”

“Avengers: Endgame” wraps up the 10-year-long journey of the first generation Avengers, which includes Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow, The Hulk, and Hawkeye - and is the 22nd Marvel film.
