Korean Air to raise prices of local flights in June

Korean Air will raise the price of its domestic flights by an average 7 percent starting in June.

According to the airline on Friday, it decided to raise domestic fares for the first time in seven years due to problems with profitability.

The airline said it will freeze fares for some routes offered at less popular hours.

Those purchasing Korean Air tickets before June will be able to buy tickets for their current price.

The country’s largest airline also said it will raise commissions on domestic ticket refunds from June.

While the airline currently charges 1,000 won ($0.86) for refunds, it will raise the commission to between 3,000 won and 7,000 won. The penalty will be costlier if the ticket was bought through discount promotions. The no-show penalty fee will remain the same at the current 8,000 won.
